Liturgical Life

Eucharistic Ministers

The people who volunteer their services to assist in the distribution of the Eucharist are expected to be of good moral character as well as to have a deep devotion to our Lord. While there are no requirements as such, the person who serves in this ministry for the community must attend a number of preparatory sessions involving not only basic instruction, but also reflection on the ministry. Auxiliary ministers of Holy Communion are expected to serve at the regular Masses as well as at special services held throughout the year. Every attempt is made to have ministers assigned to the Mass of their preference. Anyone interested in training to become a Eucharistic minister should notify one of the pastoral staff. In addition to training and service, periodic meetings are conducted in the English language.

Lectors

Lectors volunteer their services to the ministry of the Word. After preparatory sessions involving not only the development of speaking skills, but also some reflection on the ministry of the Word, these members of the community proclaim the Word of God at the regular Eucharistic assemblies as well as at special services held throughout the year. Every attempt is made to schedule ministers at the Mass of their choice. Persons interested in training and become lectors should notify one of the pastoral staff. In addition to training and service, periodic meetings are conducted in the English language.

Music Ministry

The purpose of the Music Ministry at Mary, Undoer of Knots parish is to enhance liturgy through song, so that all parishioners can have a prayerful and meaningful experience. All are welcome to join! A love of music is the only requirement.  A variety of groups are available including cantors. We will now have a combined choir of St. Constance and St. Robert Bellarmine members. We meet on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. The rehearsals take place at St. Constance in the Rectory Basement. The choir season begins mid September and ends with the feast of Pentecost, usually the end of May or early part of June.

Seeking cantors and instrumentalists! We welcome singers and musicians who can play flute, trumpet, string instruments for our masses at St. Constance or St. Robert Bellarmine campuses. Please contact mblecka@archchicago.org.

Hand Bell Choir– We are looking for those who are interested in learning to play Hand Bells. Hand Bells add such a beauty to the music that is played at mass! If you are interested, please contact mblecka@archchicago.org.

Altar Servers

Service at the altar at St. Constance Church takes several forms. Resurrection servers are senior adult men and women who take on the responsibility of serving at weekday morning Masses and all funeral Masses. Younger servers, boys and girls from grade and high school, assume the responsibility of serving at our weekend Masses. In addition to training and serving, periodic meetings are held.

This ministry creates the worship environment in the Church for the liturgical seasons throughout the year.  Extra volunteers are needed to decorate the Church for Advent, Christmas, Holy Week and Easter.
